Katie came to us in a panic only about a month before her wedding after her original wedding DJ, cancelled on her so that he could go on a cruise instead, and the next person she attempted to hire wasn’t willing to give her a contract. Having been in business for over 37 years at this point, we find this sort of behavior from so called “professionals” disgraceful, but sadly in an era of “everyone’s a DJ” it’s all too common. It also underscore the #1 rule in hiring any vendor for your wedding day: be sure to properly vet and look into their reputation before hiring them. Talk to your friends that have used them, read their online reviews, and meet them first to be sure their way of doing business is compatible with yours.
Luckily for Katie, she was having a Sunday wedding and this particular date was still available with our Standard wedding package. Katie had also chosen the Spohn Ballroom for her reception which, as a preferred vendor there, we are a turnkey choice for entertainment. The combination of her Goshen Wedding DJ and the Goshen wedding venue made us a perfect match!
Katie and Michael had actually been married previously this year in a private ceremony in the Carribean so the the goal of the reception was to have an fun and elegant party for all their friends to celebrate their love for each other. They also chose to do a unique brunch-time reception with Elegance in Thyme providing a spread of breakfast foods and waffles. We don’t see too many pre-noon receptions but they are one of our favorites!
Brunch was served in conjunction with an expansive donut bar from Dunkin Donuts and once guests finished their meal, their Elkhart area wedding DJ kicked off the dancing through the rest of the afternoon from a fun palate of 80’s hits, Katie and Michael’s favorite musical era. Debbie Gibson and Phil Collins never sounded so good!
