LIZZIE & PATRICK WED AT THE SPOHN BALLROOM IN GOSHEN | DJ, CEREMONY

The way the afternoon light streams through the west-facing windows in the historic Spohn Ballroom on a late summer day is something special.  And so is this venue, with its 3rd floor vantage point on the corner of Main and Clinton Streets overlooking the Courthouse square in picturesque downtown Goshen.  You can almost imagine yourself back in time 100 years ago with the bustling Main Street in Goshen in full swing:  Cable cars rushing back and forth, the Hotel Goshen welcoming weary travelers across the street and the Olympia Candy Kitchen serving up sodas and other sweet treats from its lunch counter next door.

The Hotel is long gone but the 1905 Greek Revival Courthouse and the Olympia are still there, much as they were a century ago.   Patrick, a Middlebury native, currently living in W. Lafayette knew this iconic ballroom was the perfect place for he and Lizzie to tie the knot, and they utilized our Gold wedding package with integrated ceremony services to make those dreams a reality on this warm August afternoon. The entire wedding planning was done in just three months, and they knocked it out of the park!

120 guests made their way up to the 3rd floor for the beautiful and lengthy wedding ceremony which included a full communion, hymns, and guest scripture readings.  A relaxed cocktail hour followed with a spirited Grand Entrance consisting of the Bridesmaids and Groomsmen entering in separate “teams” with Patrick and Lizzie bringing in the main event to the sounds of Jock Jam’s Get Ready For This.   “Let’s Get Ready to Rummmmmble!”.    The crowd really got into it too, clapping along and cheering for each team as they rushed in.

Another fun moment came during the mother-son dance with an flash-mob inspired dance routine choreographed by the groom’s younger brother.  Apparently the family had done something similar to this at Patrick’s youngest brother’s wedding last year and it was a huge hit, so Patrick and family planned to surprise Lizzie with a repeat performance.   Patrick and his mom started out dancing traditionally to “What a Wonderful World” and at the end of the song, we switched the music spontaneously to “Stupid Love” from Lady Gaga and the rest of Patrick’s family joined he and his mom on the dance floor for a well thought out dance number for another two minutes.   (See the video below for a side-on view from our vantage point).   Lizzie was shocked by the dance moves of her new husband and the room erupted with applause as the group struck a selfie pose together to end the show.

This dance certainly set the tone for the night and after guests enjoyed a delicious buffet from Nelson’s BBQ catering and they packed the small dance floor for a solid two hours before wishing Patrick and Lizzie the best in a sparkler send off in front of the building to end a perfect day!

A True DJ Professional

If you are looking for a great DJ for any event, I recommend Blake (aka DJ Sticky Boots) @ The Music Place DJ, Inc.

My now wife and I got married end of August. We had a lot of logistics to figure out in the weeks leading up to our wedding in the midst of COVID. While we love dancing along with all our friends and families, we did not have the capacity to plan all the details regarding music.
Blake was awesome. He provided incredible guidance on general timeline of events for the wedding, and great music recommendations for the ceremony and all parts of the reception. In planning for the wedding, sometimes you just need options to choose from instead of having to come up with the ideas yourself. And he knows that and helps you through that process.
When it came to the wedding day, neither my wife or I were concerned about sound, music, or him as an entertainer. We had full confidence in him because of his many years of experience and how easy it was to communicate with him leading up to our wedding day. Everything worked perfectly and sounded awesome (even my family’s flash mob dance to Stupid Love by Lady Gaga).
He may not know this yet, but after the wedding my wife and I got rave reviews from everyone at our wedding about our incredible DJ. He knows how to keep a party going. Songs flow easily from one to the next and are great dance songs to keep the dance floor full.
If you are looking for a great DJ, DJ Sticky Boots is your man.
