Silver Beach in St. Joe on the shore of Lake Michigan was once again the setting for our first prom of the spring season where close to 400 students gathered at the gorgeous Shadowland Ballroom for an evening of carousel rides, Van Gogh snacks and drinks, and of course a ton of dancing with Michiana’s premier prom DJ, Sticky Boots.

We did full wireless uplighting production in the ballroom this year with 20 computer-controlled uplight fixtures placed strategically around the venue to bring the theme to life.  Colors started out with deep blue and then changed colors to the beat of the prom music with an intense glow, bathing the walls in a mix of bright color once the sun went down and the dancing started.

The Starry Night prom theme was also a perfect match for our “Dance Under the Stars” starfield effect which projected a glowing cobalt blue cloud nebula onto the vaulted ceiling of ballroom pierced by thousands of tiny stars.  Check out the pics below to see how this special effect added a signature look to the event.

The kids had an epic dance-off judged by the administrators at 9:30pm and Prom royalty was crowned at 10:00pm with DJ Sticky Boots providing the prom emcee duties and members of the junior and senior classes celebrated the crowning of both a prince and princess and king and queen.

It’ll be a packed Prom Tour for our Prom DJs and this was a great way to get it started!
